Principal A.Cumaraswamy took the bold step of appointing him to the staff in 1946 considering his academic brilliance. He was a man of many parts. He was an excellent teacher of English, Mathematics; a cricketer and a cricket commentator, and edited the school Journal “Young Hindu” for many years. He represented Vannarponnai in the Jaffna Municipal Council. He crowned his career at Jaffna Hindu College as acting head for a short time in 1971, later moved on to be the Principal at Kopay Christian College and finally retired from service as Principal of Pandaterruppu Hindu College. He is popularly called as “Communist Karthigesan.” |
